What our patients are saying

Things you might be wondering about oral hygiene

You should start brushing your child’s teeth as soon as their first tooth appears, typically around six months old. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a smear of fluoride toothpaste (about the size of a grain of rice) until age three. After age three, you can use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. Supervise brushing until your child can do it effectively on their own, usually around age six.

Children should visit the dentist for their first dental check-up by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth coming in, whichever comes first. After the initial visit, it’s recommended to schedule dental check-ups every six months to monitor oral health, address any concerns, and maintain a good oral hygiene routine.

To prevent cavities, ensure your child brushes their teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flosses daily to remove plaque between teeth. Limit sugary snacks and drinks, and encourage a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and water. Regular dental visits for professional cleanings and fluoride treatments also play a crucial role in cavity prevention.
