How long does a teeth cleaning take?

We make sure to go at a pace that’s comfortable for each child, so the time can vary a bit. Usually, a routine cleaning and check-up take about 30 minutes to an hour. If your child needs extra treatments, like fluoride or dental sealants, it might take a little longer. And if we spot a problem, like a cavity, we may be able to take care of it with a filling during the same visit—if our schedule and your time allow.

What happens during a kids' dental cleaning?

Our team will gently remove any plaque buildup from hard-to-reach spots, like between the teeth and near the gums. After that, we’ll use a special toothpaste and an electric toothbrush to give their teeth a deep clean and polish. To finish up, the hygienist will carefully floss between your child’s teeth to catch any leftover plaque.
